If you’re on the lookout for a new place to shop, then you’ll be delighted to know that Beijing-based fashion house Anchoret has landed in Hong Kong. Even better? The new store in Sai Ying Pun also doubles as a coffee shop. There’s nothing like relaxing to a hot cup of joe after splashing out on the trendiest fashion goods of the moment, and Anchoret provides the perfectly designed spot for that.
With a painfully stylish Instagram feed to boot, it’s no surprise that the three-storey space Anchoret occupies is beautifully designed, too. It’s one more reason to visit the boutique-cum-coffee-house. Love architecture? A visit to Anchoret won’t disappoint.

The three floors of the store are split up into their clear functions. The ground floor invites in the visitors with a flashy neon sign saying 歡迎光臨, four characters that literally mean “welcome” in Chinese. Below the sign is the savvy kitchen area, where people can place their coffee and food orders. Moving upwards, the middle floor serves as a gathering space filled with sofas in between fashion magazines and art pieces. The third floor is the fashion boutique itself.
Anchoret’s menu echoes the boutique’s minimalist flair and offers a select list of coffee, tea and pastries by locally-based food exporter Good Good Grocery. The Whitewine Poached Pear Almond Tart costs a hefty HKD$65, which isn’t cheap for its small size but is well worth the price. It tastes truly decadent, with hints of wine infused into the softly cooked pear contrasted by the flaky tart crust, making it a perfect indulgence during afternoon tea.
Now that Anchoret is well past its first few months of opening, you can expect a calmer atmosphere without a million Chinese fashionistas trying to capture that perfect Instagram shot beside you. If you’ve always wanted to live the glam life, then a visit will give you a taste of it. Make sure to check out the boutique on the top floor even if you can’t quite afford the stylish selection at the moment!
