My days of wearing bright colours are over. Neon is out and neutral is in. It may not make sense to wear grey in spring and summer, but hear me out. There will be days when you just want to blend in with the crowd, when you don’t feel like standing out. Well, when those days come, you’ll be glad to know you have an all grey outfit planned and ready.
There are two basic components the all grey outfit should have: a grey top and grey bottoms. The key is to make sure the grey shades of these two pieces of clothing match. It’s easy if you’re working with a set, but when the two pieces are from separate brands and separate vendors, it’s a different story.

Firstly, put on a loose, grey jumper that you feel comfortable in. Remember, attracting attention is not on your agenda today! You can wear a grey short-sleeved shirt if that’s more appropriate for the weather where you are. Me, though, I have on the Uniqlo Kids Jumper (link here) to combat the mall air-conditioners. Whatever your choice, make sure the shade of grey matches the next piece up: the midi skirt.

If you’re like me, you probably have a whole pile of grey clothes at home. The next part of the all grey outfit requires a pair of pants or a skirt out of that pile that matches your chosen top. My personal favourite is the Seoul Midi Skirt (link here), which happens to be the same colour as my jumper. Together, these two pieces make a casual, laid-back look.
Leave your glitzy heels behind, because for the all grey outfit, trainers work best. If you have a pair in grey that matches the rest of the outfit, then congratulations, you’ve hit the jackpot! But if you don’t, and also don’t have the cash for new shoes, then opt for grey socks and classic white trainers such as the Keds Champion Originals (link here) instead.
Who needs spring florals when you have grey, right? The all grey outfit is perfect if you want to dress down but still look reasonably stylish. Do you have a favourite colour combination you like to wear? Let me know in the comments below, I’m always open to new ideas. 🙂
