If you’re a regular reader of charmainenyw.com, you’d know that I have a slight obsession with cute cafés. My most popular blog post is named “3 Instagram-Worthy Cafés in Shanghai You Must Visit“, where I wrap up, well, the most photogenic cafés in Shanghai. A lot of people have emailed me to tell me how helpful the post was, so I decided to do a similar one for Chiang Mai. So without further ado, here are seven of the most Instagram-worthy cafés in Chiang Mai.
During my way too short trip to Chiang Mai, I visited countless cafés. If I included them all, this blog post would never end and you’d get bored and click away. Instead, I decided to pick the seven most photogenic ones. These cafés are the crème de la crème, guys. You can’t get better than this.
Let’s begin with the sugar daddy of all Instagram-worthy cafés in Chiang Mai. The Barisotel by The Baristro is the OG, the lord of the city. I don’t think two photos do its sleek, white interior justice, so you’ll have to click here to read more about it in a separate blog post of mine. It’s arguably the most popular café in the Nimmanhaemin neighbourhood, and for good reason, too. Not only does it offer countless photogenic corners to satisfy every narcissist’s needs, but it also serves up sophisticated camera-ready desserts and drinks to boot. If there’s one café you need to visit, make it The Baristro.
If you loved The Baristro, there’s no doubt you’ll love Brown Café too, opened conveniently right next door. And here’s why you’ll love it: it’s by the same team of designers behind The Baristro. Can’t get enough of clean, fresh interiors? Hurry over to Brown Café. The architecture inside is reminiscent of Japanese coffee houses, offering a brightly lit space of two floors, decked with light wood furniture and a myriad of green plants. It feels like a spot of nature in the city.
Put your hands up if bread is a morning staple for you. Yep, I’m not the only one. Flour Flour is a mom-and-pop store opened by two passionate bakers who wanted to bring handcrafted, artisan sourdough bread to Chiang Mai. If you’re looking for a breakfast spot that isn’t your hotel’s boring breakfast buffet, then make sure to swing by Flour Flour. Get to the cosy, rustic bakery early and enjoy your freshly baked rye with a cup of classy aeropress drip coffee. Sooo sophisticated.
Out of all the Instagram-worthy cafés in Chiang Mai, Brewing Room definitely tops the list for having the best coffee. This one’s for the serious coffee drinkers out there. Or alternatively, if you’re into blue and pink pastels like me. 😉 The premium coffee shop uses imported coffee beans from all over the world and rotates its blend every month, ensuring that there’s something fresh every time you visit. The space is large and modern, incorporating a vertical garden and cute, rounded furniture. Do make sure to stop by if the design sounds like something you’d love!
HeartWork the Sharing Space
Okay, it might not technically be a café, but hear me out. HeartWork the Sharing Space is Chiang Mai’s newest coworking space, catering to the influx of digital nomads and freelancers settling in the city. It’s a bit out of the way, with a location far from the town centre, but that’s what makes it extra special. Just purchase a meal, a snack or a coffee at the counter, then you’re free to enjoy the extensive, Instagram-worthy interior… and while you’re at it, don’t forget to take advantage of the crazy fast wifi to upload your masterpiece instantly!
While the aforementioned Instagram-worthy cafés in Chiang Mai all serve up dessert, none of them specialise in ice cream. That’s right, next, we have Piccadilly, the ice cream connoisseur. Thanks to the sweltering heat of Thailand, you’ll no doubt be on the hunt for a cool, sweet treat. This is where Picadilly comes in. Photogenic and pink with plenty of corners designated for photo-taking, it’s the OG dessert spot offering artisan ice creams while merging Instagram and food.
On Cloud Nine
To round up the list of the most Instagram-worthy cafés in Chiang Mai is On Cloud Nine, another pink, cutesy dessert spot to satisfy your never-ending sweet tooth in. Located conveniently in the trendy Nimmanhaemin neighbourhood, it’s a must-go if you’re looking for a sweet treat but don’t feel like ice cream. On Cloud Nine’s menu boasts all sorts of desserts, from Korean-style bingsu to fizzy soda topped with a fluffy cloud of candy floss. Photogenic interior? Check. Photogenic food? Check. Make the dessert bar a priority already!
So, which of these Instagram-worthy cafés in Chiang Mai is your favourite? It’s The Baristro, isn’t it? In any case, please comment below and let me know if you found this blog post useful, and if you’ll be visiting any of these places next time you’re in Thailand! 🙂
