Wondering where to stay in Nha Trang? The developing city has no shortage of 5-star resorts, and most importantly, they’re not unaffordable. Unless you’re me. With my measly income, there was no way I could stay at the Sheraton, Intercontinental or Six Senses. So I looked around and eventually found Liberty Central Nha Trang. The 4-star paradise by Odyssea Hotels turned out to be exactly what I needed: a cheaper, yet still luxurious alternative to the big names. It may not top the list, but it certainly doesn’t lose out. In this blog post, I’ll be offering y’all a Liberty Central Nha Trang review. It’s what you came here for anyway, isn’t it?

While the high-class resorts are gathered away from the city centre, Liberty Central Nha Trang is set in the tourist area of Nha Trang Bay and is just a three-minute walk from Nha Trang Beach. The location was one of the reasons that drew me to stay at the hotel. I wanted to be able to head out and just be in the centre of action. If convenience is important to you, then Liberty Central Nha Trang outshines any luxury resort, full stop.

Architecture

Location is important, but as a design fanatic, the architecture of Liberty Central Nha Trang was what gave me the final push to choose it. From the outside, the chic hotel stands out like a little gemstone in the worn-down streets. Walk inside and you’ll find yourself in a modern-looking lobby enhanced with minimalist decor. The colour palette of the design is subtle and reflects a scene from the sea with neutral, off-white walls and teal-washed furniture.

Room

The minimalist design of Liberty Central Nha Trang’s lobby echoes into its rooms, following a carpeted road of white and teal waves that guides you up the lifts to the living quarters. You can really tell that every detail has been thoughtfully furnished. The blue sea of Nha Trang Beach is reflected all around – and fittingly so, as you’ll reach a window revealing a beautiful ocean view, pictured above, upon reaching the end of the communal corridors on the higher floors.

This Liberty Central Nha Trang review features the Premier Ocean View chamber, which I ultimately decided on out of the five types of rooms on offer. The rooms start from VND$1,320,000 per night for the Deluxe chamber, with all rates inclusive of a breakfast buffet and free wifi. You may be able to book for cheaper if there are promotional offers or if you book through a third party site.

I would’ve been satisfied with the basic Deluxe chamber model as all of Liberty Central Nha Trang’s rooms share a similar, minimalist style in design and furnishing. But since the rates weren’t too expensive – and hell, it wasn’t like I was doling out for the Intercontinental – I decided to splurge and go for the Premier Ocean View chamber. For a little more, I got to wake up to a beautiful, rolling view of Nha Trang Bay every morning. It was worth every cent.

As for the basic amenities, Liberty Central Nha Trang’s Premier Ocean View chamber offers everything a millennial would need. Of course, on top of the list is free, fast wifi. There’s a fridge to chill your drinks in, but you’ll also have a kettle to boil your own water and brew a cup of tea. Plugs, sockets, adapters are sorted for all your electronic needs, and the bathroom is stocked with washing necessities. Best of all, these tidbits are presented in a beautiful, aesthetical way, adhering to the white and blue colour scheme.

Service

While the room receives full marks from me, the service needs a little polish. It’s understandable, though, because Liberty Central Nha Trang is still relatively new and the staff is still warming up to their job. There were a few mishaps during my stay in the hotel, namely, two specific scenarios.

The first was when I ordered a breakfast room service meal. Guests can hang a specific sign on their doors if they want breakfast in bed. The first night I did that, my breakfast never came. When I asked the staff about it, they had no idea that they even offered this service (what). I tried again the next day and this time, I recapped my order in the morning. My breakfast arrived after a bout of babying the staff through the menu, but even then, they left out the fruit platter that I’d asked for.

The second mishap happened when I asked for a quick room keeping of the bathroom. When I returned to my room a few hours later, it was clear that my request hadn’t been fulfilled. What’s worse was clearly someone had been in the room, walked into the bathroom, surveyed it, then left without doing anything. And how did I know? Because there were visible shoe prints all over the floor. So not only did the staff in charge intentionally not clean the bathroom, but they also dirtied my room further. Wtf?

Facilities

One of my favourite areas of Liberty Central Nha Trang was the rooftop pool bar. A trip up the lift reveals an outdoor swimming pool with a tropical poolside bar perfect for chilling at, where I spent a few hours working on my laptop in the sun. Too bad I only discovered it on my fourth day! Other facilities you’ll find in the hotel include a spa, a health centre, a karaoke room, an executive room and the Above Sky Bar on the 21st floor.

Apart from a few small setbacks with the service, my stay in Liberty Central Nha Trang was enjoyable and well worth its price. The staff may not be the most experienced and the breakfast food may not be Michelin-starred cuisine, but hey, the architecture is certainly on point. And, I could see that the staff was really trying. For a new hotel in an area where tourism is still in development, it certainly is a considerable choice. So that’s it.
