It’s nearly the end of August, but surprise surprise, it’s still sweltering hot in Hong Kong. When you’re dripping in sweat in the 32ºC weather, the last thing you want to wear is a tight, body-hugging dress. Enter the olive shirt dress. Flowy and loose-fitting, it’s the perfect choice to fight the blistering heat on a casual day out.
If you’re into the whole normcore trend, like me, then you’ll love the olive shirt dress. The best thing about it is the no-frills design. If it fits right, then there’s no need for fancy patterns and details. The plainness of it is exactly why I love it.

Olive shirt dress
There are only two pieces to this simple outfit: the olive shirt dress and black loafers. The dress I’m wearing is from a Korean brand called Indibrand and is now sold out, but there are similar ones you can get online for a variety of prices. One of the more costly options is the Eileen Fisher Sleeveless Bateau-Neck Shirtdress. It’s pricier but hey, the quality is awesome and you get what you pay for. I guarantee this dress will be one you take out of your wardrobe every summer!
Note: The olive shirt dress looks grey in the photos, but it’s really a muted shade of olive.
Shop the look
There’s no question about it: the olive shirt dress is a lifesaver when the weather’s scorching hot. When you’re looking for something casual to wear, it’s a great option that isn’t the same ol’ t-shirt and shorts. Try it the next time you’re in a fashion inspiration rut!
