When the colder months arrive, does the palette of your wardrobe change? Me, I like dusty, neutral shades when it comes to winter outfit colours. Bright yellows and neon pinks trickle out of trend when the weather cools. Summer’s over, and no one needs all the attention that comes with flashy colours anymore. It’s out with the beach bod, and in with the dad bod.
Since winter is the perfect season to harbour that dad bod, why not go all out and ditch the tight-fitting attire altogether? Loosen up! Pick out oversized pieces, pair those with low-key winter outfit colours, and your costume is all set up for the colder weather.

You’ll need extra room inside your top to fit that growing belly with all the festivities this Christmas, so go for a loose-fitting Long-Sleeved Top (link here). Most importantly, make sure it’s in a neutral shade. I’m wearing a faded rose quartz colour that combines the cheeky glow of pink with a muted grey. It’s subtle but not too flashy, the perfect winter outfit colour.
The logical fashion rule is to pair a loose-fitting top with bottoms that show off the body more… but not for this particular outfit. Instead of leggings, pick out a Midi Skirt (link here) for a more relaxed, laid-back style that is suitable for the winter holidays. Again, take care to choose a subdued shade. The grey colour of the Midi Skirt (link here) I’m wearing is a perfect example.
You probably think that boots are the footwear of winter, but in the case of today’s outfit, a good pair of trainers will actually work better. You’ll never go wrong with a casual pair like the Keds Champion Originals (link here). They’re simple, easy to wear and don’t overwhelm the overall look.
Lastly, pick up a large Canvas Bag (link here) that you can use to carry all your knick-knacks in. Mine is from a boutique store in Seoul, and it’s perfect because the straps are short enough for me to wear the bag across the body. Again, choose a modest colour like white, to match the dusty palette of your attire. And that’s your winter outfit colours done right!
If you’ve always had a thing for loud colours, then it’s time to tune it down for winter. The low-profile colours may not be as eyecatching, sure, but they’re beautiful in their own way. So, your turn. Let me know in the comments what your favourite winter outfit colours are!
