Let me put this straight. I’ve always been deathly afraid of wearing maxi dresses at the grand height of five feet. In high school, I gravitated to miniskirts and the likes. If it ended below the knee, it had to go. But the other day, I found myself placing a maxi dress in my Zaful shopping cart. Who says short girls can’t wear long dresses? Watch me debunk this myth with my Zaful review.
When Zaful contacted me for a collaboration, I knew it was the perfect way to test out the maxi dress waters. From miniskirts to floor-sweeping dresses, the website has countless varieties up for sale. It took me forever to settle on one! In the end, I chose a ribbed slit maxi dress in an olive shade suited for fall. The verdict? I love it.

Ribbed slit maxi dress
You may be vertically challenged, but you’re not bound to miniskirts for life. The key is in the style of the maxi dress you choose. Opt for a plain colour rather than colour blocks that cut at weird places, and stay clear of too much embellishment. Less is more, people! Take my Ribbed Slit Bodycon Tank Dress (link here) from Zaful, for example. The plain olive shade elongates my body and makes it look as though I actually have long, long legs. Can’t argue with that!
When I placed my order for the Ribbed Slit Bodycon Tank Dress (link here) in Size S, I was worried it wouldn’t fit me properly. Turns out, I didn’t have to panic at all. It hugs my body in all the right places. I’m very skinny so it is a bit loose in certain areas, but overall, it’s a very comfortable fit. However, the quality isn’t top notch. The material is a little thin so it’s only suitable for summer and fall wear. But you get what you pay for, and for its inexpensive price, it’s a hundred percent worth it.
The Ribbed Slit Bodycon Tank Dress (link here) currently retails for USD$16.49. If you are anywhere above Size 00, I highly recommend going for a larger size. That said, I ordered two other items from Zaful as well, but those came way too big for me even in the smallest available sizes. Just use your common sense when ordering, and you should be alright.
The ultimate ending to a casual maxi dress outfit is a cute pair of sandals. I like nude, but I usually prefer darker shades of open-toe shoewear as with my Black Sandals (link here). Black lightens the feet up and makes them look, y’know, cleaner, haha. My sandals are from a boutique store in Seoul, but you should be able to find many similar alternatives online without problem.
What can I say, I’m officially a maxi dress convert. Gone are the days of rolling up my school skirt in high school. Bring me all the floor-sweeping dresses! 😉 I hope you enjoyed this Zaful review, and let me know in the comments below how you style your own long dress!
