Pre-covid, one of my favourite weekend activities was to go café hopping. However, thanks to the pandemic, this hobby of mine has become almost nonexistent.
Whereas I used to go out every week, I now go out once a month or even once every two months. On one special occasion, donning a face mask and a bottle of hand sanitiser, I took myself on a trip to Artisan Café in Central.
My first visit to Artisan Café was five years ago, back when it was located in Sai Ying Pun. A mom-and-pop coffee shop tucked away in a gentrified street, I remember spotting racks of vintage memorabilia and a wall decorated with multicoloured mugs inside.
On the way to its new premises in Central, where it had relocated to earlier this year, I was slightly excited. Would I see the same loud personality in the new store? Well, I’m glad to report that Artisan Café has retained its unique style and unconventional decor.
Apart from coffee, you can shop from a selection of vintage band tees, vinyl records and Fire King glassware, all lovingly collected by the café’s founder and owner.
If you’re looking for a spot to chill out, catch up with friends or people watch, I highly recommend paying Artisan Café a visit! 🙂
